Overview

Highlights
The Chadar Trek or the Zanskar Gorge is a winter trail in the Zanskar region of Ladakh, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Traditionally the only means of travel in the area during the harsh winter months, the trail has become popular with international adventure tourists. Its walls are near vertical cliffs up to 600 m high and the Zanskar River (a tributary of the Indus) is only 5 metres (16 ft) in places. The overall distance is approximately 105 kilometres (65 mi) - an average trekker walks 16 kilometres (10 mi) per day. The best time to do the Chadar trek is January to February, when the temperature during the winters drops sometimes to -30 to -35 degrees.

"Backpacking with Treks With Ayan Brahma is like going on an adventure with friends without having to deal with all the logistics of the trip. The guides are very professional but they are also friendly and fun. It's obvious that we love the outdoors and they did everything possible to make our trip on the Boulder Mail Trail a fantastic and safe experience. We will choose Treks With Ayan Brahma again when looking for another outdoor adventure." - Kyla Simpson
"I didn't quite know what to expect when I signed up for this trip, but I can easily say this far exceeded any of my expectations, and I would recommend it to anyone. To say the least, this was the first vacation I had taken where I left w/ a sense of accomplishment. It was easily the experience of a lifetime, and words cannot describe the overall experience. Just awesome!!" - Matthew Kimmick
